
Dr. Ellen Shumka
Dr. Shumka is a registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Ellen currently resides in the United Kingdom, and thus, she provides virtual psychological services to children and adolescents located in Ontario. She is also registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Heath & Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the United Kingdom and provides assessment and treatment services within the Mind and Body Clinic at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, England.
Ellen completed her PhD in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada. Ellen’s previous academic training includes a M.A. in School Psychology from UBC, and a joint-Honours BA in Psychology and English from the University of Waterloo. In 2018, Ellen completed her post-doctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut where she provided psychological assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents, and their families. Ellen has specialized training and research interests in childhood anxiety, specifically selective mutism, as well as the overlap between anxiety disorders and autism. She has provided psychoeducation and consultation for a variety of non-profit, school and community organizations, including Anxiety Canada, CBC Kids, and the YMCA.
