Dr. Sara Heimpel
Dr. Heimpel has been providing psychological services in this community for more than 20 years. She is a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
Dr. Heimpel has expertise providing comprehensive diagnostic assessments to preschoolers, school-age children, adolescents, and adults. Her training in a variety of treatment modalities, with a focus on CBT, equips her to provide tailored psychological treatments to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She has a special interest in early autism diagnosis, preschool assessment, and intervention with first responders.
Dr. Heimpel completed her PhD training in the clinical psychology program at the University of Waterloo. During her pre-doctoral internship at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba, she provided clinical services to children and adults affected by anxiety and mood disorders, learning disabilities, and chronic health conditions. Earlier in her career, Dr. Heimpel worked as an adjunct professor and clinical supervisor for the clinical psychology graduate program at the University of Waterloo, with a focus on teaching of psychological assessment. Prior to becoming a psychologist, her work focused on supporting children, adults, and families affected by intellectual disabilities.
