Dr. Lynn Swanson
Dr. Swanson is a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She has worked as a psychologist in a variety of roles in the Waterloo region for over 30 years. Dr. Swanson’s current work includes comprehensive psychological assessments that address complex neurodevelopmental and clinical presentations in children, adolescents, and adults. She has provided extensive consultation to parents and school personnel regarding the needs of children with diagnosed learning disabilities and psychological disorders. Dr. Swanson also provides therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and couples to address relationship issues, anxiety, depression and other concerns using a variety of treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She works extensively with first responders and their families in addressing a variety of concerns.
Dr. Swanson completed her Ph.D. in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Waterloo. Her clinical training included an internship at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, where she provided assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents, and adults. Prior to focusing on full-time private practice, Dr. Swanson was employed as a psychologist on the Preschool Diagnostic Team and the Child and Family Centre at Grand River Hospital. Subsequently, she worked as the Assistant Director of the Psychology Clinic at the University of Waterloo, where she provided clinical training and supervision of graduate students, and as an Assistant Professor, teaching graduate level courses in the psychological assessment of children and adults. Dr. Swanson has served on the Board of Directors of SILA Skills, a not-for-profit organization directed toward making DBT skills accessible to educators and first responders.
