Ellen Shumka works under the supervision of Dr. Sara Heimpel while she completes her final Ph.D. requirements and works towards registering as a Psychologist. Ellen is a doctoral candidate in School Psychology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada. Ellen’s previous academic training includes a M.A. in School Psychology from UBC, and a joint-honors B.A. in Psychology and English from the University of Waterloo. In 2018, Ellen completed her post-doctoral internship in Clinical Psychology at the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut where she provided psychological assessment and treatment services to children, adolescents and their families. Ellen has specialized training and research interests in the area of childhood anxiety, specifically Selective Mutism. She previously worked as a consultant for Anxiety Canada, CBC Kids, YMCA as well as other school and community organizations.
Dr. Shumka is currently on maternity leave.
